The role of the writer in shaping and influencing opinions and discourse is indeed an important one. Ta-Nehisi Coates did it in The Case for Reparations (which I first read in 2018 and continue to see references, most recently circulated at a professional workshop I attended as critical reading) and in Between The World and Me (a workplace book club choice). And I hear he is doing it again with The Message. I watched his interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show recently talking about his new book; I only wish Jon had given him more time to speak. I haven't read the book yet myself but it's on my list! I hope to read more of your thoughts on it and the role of the writer going forward!

Before this book, I had only read Between The World And Me. Just bought his whole catalogue and am excited to dive in. However, generally he's one of the authors that resonate with me hence this article lol.

Thanks for reading. There's definitely going to be more thoughts on his sentiments especially after I read all his books
